A litigator with trial experience, Mac has successfully represented numerous clients in diverse civil cases including multi-district products liability litigation, wrongful termination suits, and long-term disability insurance actions. In the area of personal injury law, Mac has obtained financial recovery on behalf of clients who suffered serious injuries arising from trucking, automobile, and farm accidents.
As an experienced Social Security disability attorney, Mac frequently assists hard working people in reversing previous denials at hearings before administrative law judges and has also represented claimants at the Appeals Council and federal district court levels. In addition, Mac is one of the few attorneys in the area who represents injured working people in Minnesota workers’ compensation claims. He is also accredited to prepare, present, and prosecute claims for veterans’ disability benefits before the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
In addition to his full-time practice as an attorney, Mac represents Grand Forks' District 42 in the North Dakota Senate. He was elected minority leader by his colleagues prior to the 2013 legislative session.
Mac is a 2008 graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, where he represented victims of domestic violence in Washington, D.C. Superior Court as part of the Domestic Violence Clinic and was a also member of the American Criminal Law Review. He received a degree in history from the University of North Dakota in 2002, a year in which he also served as co-captain of the UND football team.
